Shavuot Shabloom

Shavuot is a Jewish holiday celebrating receiving the Torah and first fruits of the harvest, known as Bikkurim. We are inviting all of our families with young children to help us welcome & celebrate our most important Bikkurim of all: our children!

10:30 - 11:00: Create paper flowers and bouquets with Kate Holdsworth, director of Gan Keshet Preschool

11:00-11:30: A musical celebration of the season with beloved local musician Felicia Sloin, especially for ages 5 and under

11:30-12:00: A joyful ceremony to celebrate families & welcome new babies to the community, followed by refreshments (including ice cream)! The ceremony will include a blessing for children of all ages and their grownups.

Shed Raising Day

We are rebuilding our new shed with local timbers and will raise the frame using only human power!

Drop by at any time; people of all ages and abilities are welcome.  We need people to help lift the frame as well as people to cheer and support!

Bring food for a potluck if you wish.

Participate in a historical building technique and show your support for Abundance Farm post-shed fire. Join us as we continue to build our Farm community and welcome the new season together.

Community Matzah Bake

Turns out that matzah doesn't have to come out of a box, and it doesn't have to be square!

In addition to learning how to make matzah (by doing it!), you will also learn about the interesting history of what "maror" (bitter herb) is supposed to be. Hint: it isn't horseradish! You can also help us grind some more wheat with Abundance Farm's kid-friendly equipment.

This is very much a participatory, hands-on workshop. Space is limited, so we are asking you to RSVP in advance to reserve your spot.

10:00-12:00 Families with Younger Kids
12:00-1:20 Families with Elementary/Teen Age Kids
1:20-2:00 People who would prefer to make matzah without a lot of kids running around

**Please note, this is primarily an educational experience. If you would like to attempt making matzah that is kosher for Passover, we recommend signing up in the 1:20-2:00 time slots. We will teach more about the details of making kosher matzah at this time, and are happy to try and do it with you.**
