Pick Your Own

Pick Your Own is Abundance Farm’s free community harvest program that is open from May through October.

Our Fall hours are Wednesdays from 3:00 to 6:00 pm. Our last Pick-Your-Own of the season will be on October 25th.

The Jewish teaching of פאה , or peah, tells us that as farmers, we are not “giving away” this food, but that, in fact, the harvest already belong to those who need it and want to come to the farm to harvest. Pick Your Own participants often also share their wisdom about crops, recipes, community events, and resources. In Judaism, we call this flow of giving and receiving שפע, or shefa, which is Hebrew for abundance.

We invite community members from all walks of life.

Abundance Farm welcomes children from the partnering schools, neighbors biking along the bike path, clients from the Northampton Survival Center, college students, synagogue members, and more, to come to the Farm, partake in the harvest, get to know each other, and spend time on the Land. All are welcome!

Pick Your Own Details

Each PYO, we display a harvest list of what crops are ready to be picked and we provide all the supplies needed for harvesting (bags, scissors, rubber bands, etc).

Volunteers are around to greet PYO participants, walk the land together, and share knowledge with each other. If you have extra vegetables from your garden, family recipes, skills, or land-based rituals you would like to share at PYO, or if you have any questions in general, please be in touch with Nat, our Farm Manager, at nat@abundancefarm.org. Or just drop by the Farm during Pick Your Own sometime!
