Pick Your Own
Our Pick Your Own program at Abundance Farm is a community harvest event that happens twice a week throughout the growing season.
It is a moment each week when the vision of Abundance Farm comes to life, and our three-fold mission manifests.
Guided by Jewish agricultural values of justice, dignity, and abundance, we invite community members from all walks of life- children from the partnering schools, neighbors biking along the bike path, clients from the Northampton Survival Center, college students, synagogue members, and more to come to the Farm, partake in the harvest, enjoy food together, and spend time on the Land.
Pick Your Own takes place every Monday from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm and Thursday from 3:00 - 6:00 pm from June through October.
We hold volunteer hours on the Farm at the same time as Pick Your Own, so people are welcome to pick food and help grow the food in whatever balance feels right! (Volunteer hours begin in April and run through November).
Each week, we display a harvest list listing what crops are ready to be picked and we provide all the supplies needed for harvesting (bags, scissors, rubber bands, etc).
Volunteers are around to greet Pick Your Own participants, walk the land together, and share knowledge with each other.
PYO participants have diverse backgrounds--including those who have never picked food from the earth before, and people come who are master gardeners. All are welcome, and everyone has unique and beautiful contributions to share and receive- this is what makes Abundance Farm so special!
This upcoming year, we are looking to add music and art into the Pick Your Own experience, so if you are interested in contributing in this way, or in any other way- helping harvest, weed, paint signs, refilling harvest supplies or have any questions please be in touch with Rose, our Farm Manager, at firstname.lastname@example.org – or just drop by sometime!
